|Martand is a significant Archeological site. Its impressive Architecture reveals the glorious past of the area. All that remains of the temple is a central rectangular building surrounding by a court and rectangular colonnade. The most important shrine of Amarnath cave is situated about 48 kms from Pahalgam which attracts devotees from all over the world. It is located in the upper reaches of the district at an altitude of about 13000ft from the sea level. Shrine is believed to be an abode of lord Shiva. The year 2002 recorded a figure of above 1.1 lakh pilgrims to the holy shrine.
The famous shrine of Baba-Zain-ul-din Wali is existing at Aishmuqam. The shrine of Baba-Hyder Rishi is located at Anantnag. He is the last giant of Rishi order of saints.
The famous tourist places are Pahalgam, Kokernag, Achabal, Verinag and Daksum.

At just 45 Kms from Anantnag, Amarnath caves is a must visit place. The caves are home to the naturally occurring ice Shivlinga. It is one of the most significant pilgrim centres for the devotees of Lord Shiva and opens to the visitors for only some days every year.

Uma Devi Of Uma Nagri

Aishmuqam Shrine is the famous disciple of Kashmir’s renowned Saint Sheikh Noor-ud-din is believed to be resting in peace here. Sheikh Zain-ud-din is said to have offered his entire life to the Almighty. Tourists from all faiths and religions throng the place to be blessed.
Located close to the Masjid Baba Dawood Khaki, Kherbawani Asthapan houses Kherbawani spring. It is believed that Kashmir’s Maharaja Pratap Singh was an ardent devotee of the place and made a lot of offerings here. The sight of the changing water colour of the spring also attracts a lot of tourists to this place.

The nearest International Airport from Anantnag is Srinagar Airport. It is located at a distance of 62 Kms and is known as Sheikh Ul Alam Airport. This airport is well connected to the other important cities like Jammu and New Delhi.
Anantnag is very well connected to various major cities of Jammu and Kashmir. Anantnag is 10 Kms from Kokernag, 44Kms from Pahalgam, 66 Kms from Srinagar and 237 Kms from Jammu.
Anantnag railway station is connected with Kashmir Railway that runs from Baramulla to Qazigund. Anantnag is connected to few important cities by frequent trains.
